The Castle Breakfast combines carefully selected and prepared local produce, lovingly prepared by our local producers, whose diligent and skilful hands take care of every detail of your castle experience.
The main guiding principles of our operation, as one of the largest and oldest regional parks in Slovenia, are to support local producers, maintain the quality of food, and cultivate a positive relationship with the environment we live in. Homemade bread, jam and spreads, honey, juice, and meats, cheese made from the milk of cows grazing on the surrounding pastures, will greet you as soon as you open the lid of our castle breakfast basket! You can enjoy the breakfast basket in the comfort of your castle room, in the castle hall where you will also find a coffee machine and a tea corner, on the sunny courtyard of the castle under the mighty chestnut trees, by the nearby pond on a picnic blanket provided by us, on a nearby meadow, or in a forest clearing.

Castle breakfast basket offer
The Castle Breakfast, prepared by the organic farm Kukovičič mill in Podsreda, is designed as a TWO-PERSON MEAL.
It offers a sample of the best that farmhouse tables, fields, gardens, orchards, and granaries from the heart of the pristine nature of the Kozjansko Regional Park protected area have to offer.
Four breakfast options are available: CLASSIC, VEGETARIAN, VEGAN, AND GLUTEN-FREE BREAKFAST BASKETS – ALL FOR TWO PEOPLE.
Indulge your taste buds with the CLASSIC CASTLE BREAKFAST at Podsreda Castle, offering a true harmony of flavors from the heart of Kozjansko:
- WHEAT AND SPELT BUNS* – Homemade bread rolls made from flour ground at Kukovičič Mill, bringing warmth and homeliness to your castle table.
- HOMEMADE JAM – Cooked from the finest locally picked fruits, combining the sweetness and freshness of homegrown fruits from the organic farm Kukovičič Mill, cultivated in an environmentally friendly manner.
- BUTTER* – Pure, creamy, unsalted, made from the finest milk.
- HOMEMADE CHEESE* – Cheese from the heart of Kozjansko, made from whole cow’s milk from Sinkovič Farm with over 40 years of tradition, to which nothing is added or taken away. In addition to delicious young cheese, they also produce probiotic fruit and plain yogurts, cottage cheese, and spreads.
- HOMEMADE SALAMI – Premium cured meat product from the Kunej Farm, located in the immediate vicinity of Podsreda Castle. Their traditional and proven recipes for excellent meat and other products have been inherited from their ancestors, ensuring authenticity and quality.
- BOILED EGGS* – Carefully selected eggs from local hens from the organic farm Kukovičič Mill.
- JUICE – Homemade syrup made from homegrown fruits, mixed with fresh water for natural sweetness and a refreshing experience.

For our guests following a vegan diet, we have created a special VEGAN BREAKFAST FOR TWO, which includes:

An additional option of GLUTEN-FREE BREAKFAST BASKET for two is available with any of the three breakfast types: CLASSIC, VEGETARIAN, and VEGAN.
The gluten-free breakfast includes gluten-free bread and gluten-free cookies with a supplement of 4 euros per person.

About the Organic Farm
Kukovičič Mill
Kukovičič Mlin Organic Farm, which supplies our “courtiers” with CASTLE BREAKFASTS, is a family-run farm with a long tradition of farming dating back generations. In 2012, they transitioned to organic farming methods, further enriching their offerings.
They focus on milling, crop cultivation, and fruit growing, with the farm’s greatest pride being the restored stone mill in a building over 500 years old, which is a cultural monument.
In the mill, they blend rich family tradition with modern organic production, ensuring the authenticity and quality of their products.
They produce flours, grains, juices, jams daily, and bake fresh bread that fills the air from the oven, along with various sweet treats.
Their range is certified organic and extremely diverse, including vegetables, fruits, juices, spreads, teas, pastries, and pasta, contributing to the unique and diverse experience of the castle breakfast.

Booking and collection of breakfast baskets
We kindly ask you to let us know your Castle Breakfast Basket order immediately upon booking or at the latest one day in advance, before your arrival at the castle, no later than 14:00 (2 PM).
During your stay in our apartments and rooms, please inform us of your breakfast choice one day in advance during reception hours, either in person, by phone, or via email. The BREAKFAST BASKET will await guests in the CASTLE HALL, located directly below the rooms and apartments (first door on the left after entering the courtyard through the main gate).
Each basket is labeled with the guest's accommodation name. You can pick up your basket from 8 AM onward and return the empty basket by the evening at the latest.

Kunej Farm
Kunej Farm is located in the heart of the Kozjansko Regional Park, near Podsreda Castle, with a history dating back centuries. Today’s owners inherited not only the farm but also a dedication to farming and, most importantly, tried and true recipes for excellent meat and other products.
Kunej Farm believes in homemade, traditional products that evoke the taste of home. They share this passion with their local customers and those who come from far and wide to enjoy the delights they have prepared.

Sinkovič Farm
Located in the pristine countryside in the heart of Kozjansko, Sinkovič Farm boasts a rich tradition of dairy farming spanning over 40 years.
They produce probiotic fruit and plain yogurts, cottage cheese, spreads, and young cheeses from whole milk, to which nothing is added or removed.
Visitors can tour the entire farm, production facilities, and the cheese dairy. They also offer tastings of their delicious products: yogurts, cheeses, spreads, Greek yogurt, and other dairy products.
Recently, they expanded their excellent range of homemade dairy products with Slovenia’s first homemade “frozen yogurt,” Frozy, which is loved by both children and adults!
