Our story
At the Podsreda Castle, sustainability is not just a word, but a fundamental principle of our philosophy at the Public Institution Kozjansko Park.
The castle is located in the heart of the protected area of Kozjansko Regional Park, the largest regional park in Slovenia, which offers a wide range of opportunities for an unforgettable holiday with its unspoilt nature, biodiversity, rich cultural heritage, and local cuisine, as well as the warm-heartedness of the local people.
All this has helped to attract more and more visitors to our area, who seek genuine contact with nature and a unique experience of the natural and cultural wonders of the surroundings.
In 2020, the Municipality of Kozje followed the wishes of visitors and set up three rooms and three apartments in the lower outbuilding of Podsreda Castle, which are managed by the Kozjansko Park Public Institute.
This innovative project of castle accommodations follows the basic guidelines of the Kozjansko Regional Park, where we believe that sustainable management and care for the natural environment are the only true way to go.
Aware that our actions impact the environment, the local community, and the preservation of natural and cultural heritage, we have made it a priority to work closely with the local community, food and drink producers, local suppliers and traditional craft practitioners, and to foster a positive attitude towards our environment. We want to share these principles with our guests, so when designing our apartments and rooms and preparing our offer, we have teamed up with local artists, producers, and craftsmen.
Within the ancient walls of the castle, we proudly embody the essence of sustainability and strive to reduce our negative impact on the environment through green practices in maintenance, services, logistics and products.
By receiving the Green Key certificate and the SLOVENIA GREEN ATTRACTION label for Podsreda Castle and the SLOVENIA GREEN ACCOMMODATION label for the Rooms and apartments at Podsreda Castle, we have further strengthened our green commitment to sustainable development and operations.
