Explore the stunning “Magical Nature 2022” photo exhibition at Podsreda Castle, showcasing breathtaking wildlife and landscape photography captured in 2022. In 2023, the Association of Natural Science Photographers of Slovenia, with support from the National Institute of Biology, conducted its sixth international competition for natural science photography, titled “Magical Nature.” The year 2022 in the exhibition title is intentional—the competition and exhibition indeed took place in 2023, but most of the photographs were taken in 2022.

The competition received entries from 209 photographers worldwide, contributing over 3,000 photographs classified into six categories: mammals, birds, other animals, plants, natural landscapes, and humans in nature. A four-member jury of natural science photographers from Slovenia, Italy, and Norway selected one winning and nine commendable photographs in each category. The photographers who made the most significant impression on the jury were awarded “Natural Science Photographer of the Year 2022” and “Slovenian Natural Science Photographer of the Year 2022.” These titles were awarded to Mike Korostelev from Russia for his photograph “Hunt,” and Gorazd Golob from Slovenia for his photograph titled “Snowing.”

From these winning photographs, an exhibition has been organized, which will be on display at Podsreda Castle from April 1 to approximately the end of June 2024.
