Dear friends of the castle, we are pleased to inform you that our “most castle-like castle in Slovenia” Podsreda Castle invites you to explore the castle premises also during this year’s SPRING HOLIDAYS!

SPECIAL OPENING HOURS from 25 APRIL to 7 MAY! The Castle will be OPEN from APRIL 25th (Tuesday) until MAY 7th (Sunday) between 10 am and 5 pm. We look forward to welcoming you at the Castle on the holidays of 27 April and 1 and 2 May.

You can explore the castle on your own, with the help of an audio guide, and see for yourself why Podsreda Castle remains one of the most famous and well-preserved castles in our country, renowned for its many beautifully preserved medieval architectural elements and interesting exhibitions.

The Visitor Centre of the Kozjansko Regional Park and the Kozjansko and Obsotelje Biosphere Reserve is an interactive space that presents the tall grassland orchards, the bee-eater bird, the valley of the medieval squares, which have an exceptionally rich historical and architectural value, and the natural and cultural attractions.

The Castle Café offers something for every taste. Treat yourself to a nice fragrant castle coffee or castle tea, made from a carefully selected blend of herbs, or something else that warms the heart and soul – a drop of fine local wine, a refreshing cocktail or a draught beer from the Reset brewery.

For those with a sweet tooth, there’s natural apple juice from Kozjanski Park, homemade lemonade, homemade iced tea, delicious castle iced coffee or other refreshing beverages.

And to make sure you have enough energy to explore the castle, they’ll provide you with delicious homemade cakes, a slice of castle cake or pie, ice cream, or other treats.

The Castle Shop offers local products from more than 30 suppliers from the Kozjansko Regional Park and the Kozjansko and Obsotelje Biosphere Area.

The offer of our castle shop focuses on the products of local organic farms and handicrafts.

You can buy exciting souvenirs, toys, unique engraved glassware, handmade jewellery or other interesting products. There are also homemade biscuits, various homemade cakes, homemade pasta, chocolate from Čokoladnica Olimje, local honey products, local dried meat products, as well as various wines, sparkling wines, cider, vinegar, herbal liqueurs, herbal teas and various juices…

One of the most enjoyable options for a nature walk in the Kozjanska Park is the interactive PODSREDA CASTLE TRAIL, which starts at the main administrative office of the Kozjansko Regional Park in the town of Podsreda and leads through the medieval Podsreda Square, past the Levstik Mill (Levstikov mlin) on the Bistrica River, through the forest and up to the Podsreda Castle.

Along the 2.5 km long trail, visitors can learn more about the nature of the Kozjansko Regional Park using 14 interactive points.

For the perfect escape from everyday life to the safe shelter of the castle walls, a castle feast in the form of a cold-cut will take you back to the old days of the castle lords. The feast consists of authentic local delicacies prepared at the nearby Kunej Farm and natural apple juice made from the Kozjansko apples from the Kozjansko Regional Park’s orchards. It can be enjoyed in the castle kitchen or in the castle courtyard under the mighty chestnut trees, upon prior order (at least one day in advance).

You can substitute the juice with a bottle of wine from the local winery if you wish.

Podsreda Castle invites you to discover the stories hidden within its walls, but there are even more undiscovered wonders in the surroundings of our castle, which lies at the very heart of the protected area of the Kozjansko Regional Park.

We offer the possibility of renting electric bikes at Podsreda Castle at a price of € 20.00 per day.
